The shelter has reopened during the week for visitation only from 7-9pm. If you are intending to adopt, appointments are still being made on the weekends only. Purrlease call the shelter at 344-8808 & if someone is not there to answer your call, purrlease leave a message & a volunteer will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued understanding & support of AHS. Astrid truly lives up to her name as she is divinely beautiful and exceptionally sweet. However, purrlease understand that Astrid is a very shy and tender sweetheart who will need a home that will be patient with her. It has taken years for Astrid to trust people as we would often find her hiding purrched way up high at the shelter. Volunteers have been working with her to help her trust and feel safe again. She has gained her confidence and now seeks out affection on a regular basis. Astrid will flop over on her back, next to your side, snuggle on your lap and roll into your hand for extra scratches under her chin. She will look at you so lovingly with her soulful, trusting eyes and that will melt your heart instantly. She loves to play with balls, ball toys on tracks and peacock feathers! She does have a coat that requires consistent maintenance, which just means brushing her daily. She will also be more likely to groom herself better when she is less stressed! Astrid is a very special, gentle gal and her connecting with the purrfect home will bring delight to so many, especially Astrid. Our adoption agreement prohibits declawing an adopted cat, and stipulates that the cat will be returned to us if the adoption does not work out, or if the adopter is no longer able to keep the cat or give it necessary healthcare. For the first 30 days, cats who do not work out in their new homes may be returned for a refund or exchanged for another, more suitable, cat.
