Description:
Gertie is a smart, affectionate beauty who loves making new friends! She sadly found herself in a dangerous shelter at risk many times, and her advocates were stunned by this!\xa0 She is young, beautiful, smart, and so so loving and sweet.\xa0 She LOVES people and socializing.\xa0 Whenever her fosters take her to the farmers market, she is in her element with all the attention and pets she gets from strangers.\xa0 Gertie is JUST learning to play with other dogs, and its amazing to watch!\xa0 She is currently living with a male dog about her size and loves lounging in the sun, playing chase, and cleaning his jowls when hes done eating dinner. \xa0 Gertie prefers to keep her doggy social circle small -- she is pleased with a few close friends, but finds the dog park overwhelming. Gertie is also a MAJOR bed hog. She wants to be the little spoon at bedtime and will absolutely steal your pillow.\xa0 Dont say we didnt warn you!

Gertie spent about two months in a cinderblock kennel at a chaotic shelter.\xa0 She really craved any opportunity for affection or attention from humans, during that time.\xa0 Now that she is in a foster home, shes still scared of being abandoned by the ones she loves again.\xa0 Her fosters are working with her on her separation anxiety, and her new family should be prepared to pickup where they left off.\xa0 All Gertie really wants is to feel loved and secure.

Gertie is available for adoption to qualified adopters in the contiguous 48 states.\xa0 ABR would prefer approved applicants to come to TX to meet their match, with their family and dog(s), but we recognized this isn’t always possible.\xa0 In such cases, approved adopters should be willing to participate in video interviews with the entire family to meet their match virtually. Adopters must also provide a transportation plan for their new family member that will require approval from the ABR Board.\xa0 \xa0This needs to be paid for by the adopter, in addition to the dog’s adoption fee.\xa0 Adopters need to also be prepared arrange safe transport back to the Austin area, should adoption not work out.\xa0 Please be prepared to provide vet and personal references in your application for us to contact when considering your family.
