Malbec and Merlot were living near an alcohol distribution warehouse in Detroit. Ferndale Cat Shelter was helping with TNR but both of these girls were both pregnant and not feral, so we moved them to foster. Merlot is Malbecs daughter from a previous litter, so this is at least the second litter for Malbec. 

Merlot went into labor very early, and had a miscarriage. She has been spayed and was reunited with Malbec together in foster. 

Malbec became really sweet with her caretakers outside, once she knew she was safe and could trust them. She seemed to be relaxing a little in her foster home, but when her babies arrived, she had to get on task with being a protector for her babies. She has been an excellent and caring mama to them. Merlot was right by her side helping, too. Malbecs gorgeous babies are now weaned and will be getting ready to find a home of their own, so we want to give Malbec and Merlot the lives they truly deserve. 

Merlot is sweet and much quicker to trust, so she will warm up to you quickly! She enjoys pets and belly rubs. She and Malbec are very close, so we want them to find a home together. They truly deserve it after all they have been through We think that once Malbec doesnt have to be in mom-mode, she can really relax and find her happiness too.
