Resolute, Organized, Chummy Agatha has reached the stage in her life where she appreciates things orderly and consistent, rather than chaotic and topsy-turvy. She is choosy about who she wants to be besties with, and youll know you have been chosen when she accepts chin and head scratches, making biscuits for you while serenading you with her quiet, rumbly purrs! And when shes feeling *really* relaxed and comfortable, she will allow you to rub her belly! Agatha used to be a homeless outdoor kitty, sometimes fed by kind people, but otherwise having to scrounge around on her own. Then her life changed when she was hit by a car, which paralyzed her rear legs and left her incontinent. So, there have been a lot of changes and adjustments for Agatha, and she has shown that she is happiest in her new life when it is consistent and has a dependable routine. Agatha is happy to have a space in her home that is all her own! In her foster home she has her own "bedroom", which is a large, clear enclosure, and that makes her feel secure. She is happiest with her own little space and feels completely at ease; she is super chill and loves to lounge around and look pretty all day. Girl loves boundaries! The resident cats in her foster home walk around and visit Agatha, and she is generally neutral with them. But she does seem to really like one of the cats, and has had previous good experience with other cats. She has also been known to get excited at playtime! She has had a fun time with wand toys, toy mice, and electronic pop-out toys. Agatha gets her bladder expressed three times a day, but she poops on her own. Periodically, she needs her hind end gently bathed. She has some continued joint pain from her accident, so she prefers to be touched only around her head and chest, and she takes meds and joint supplements to help with the pain. Agatha gets stressed out with lots of change, which is understandable, considering all that has happened to her. Her people should be able to provide a tranquil and steady environment, and keep her on a routine, which she loves! It could take her a while to get used to a new home, so her people should be patient, gentle, and realistic, allowing her to settle in at her own pace. She is very particular and you have to earn her trust, but she will let you into her circle, she just needs to do it on her own schedule. Agatha would be best with cat-experienced adults, young adults, and older kids who can understand and respect her body language. She needs someone who can slowly, safely, and gently gain her comfort and trust! Then you will see a loving and happy Agatha. Agatha is incontinent and requires some extra medical care, which includes a regulated diet and manual expression. Not all incontinent cats require the same amount of care, and Agatha is surprisingly low-maintenance. APA! will guide you through learning how to care for her until you feel confident. You can do it! Agatha believes in you! And she needs you. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
