Lizzie’s foster dad is hoping that you won’t adopt her – this gentle 4-year-old girl has wormed her way into the heart of her first-time foster/cat caretaker, who says: “I’m really not a cat person, I just like Lizzie!” When she came to us, she had a skin condition and many bare patches on her back and sides because she was pulling out her fur, and was also quite skinny. Her skin condition was diagnosed by two different vets as anxiety-related, and no wonder, this sweet girl was essentially abandoned by her human family after they got a new kitten. When we rescued her at the request of a neighbor, she initially was shy, but under Jim’s care she slowly blossomed – first she hid, then she started coming out, then following him around, and now… wants to sit in his lap and get petted! As she has grown more secure and confident, her skin condition has improved considerably, and she also now comes out to greet visitors and enjoy the additional attention she gets from them. In short, Lizzie is a loving girl who has been through a rough patch in her life and is ready for someone who can give her a forever home. She is an easy companion – quiet, undemanding, perfect in the litter box, and good manners (e.g., doesn’t jump up on the kitchen counters!). Lizzie needs a quiet home without other cats, dogs, or young children – and preferably with a human parent or two who will be around much of the day to give her the quiet companionship she craves.
