AGE: 2 - 3 years DESCRIPTION: DSH - Tortoiseshell LOCATION: PETS Shelter (114 W Main Street) - Panora, IA MY STORY: As it so often goes, what starts out as just a few unaltered kitties turn into a lot of cats and becomes overwhelming for the owner. This is the case for Saffron and the other 18 kitties she lived with in a hoarding situation before the owner started asking around for assistance. We were able to take in 4 kitties from this home, and sadly they arrived scared, thin, and with various health ailments. It took Cardamom quite a few months to feel comfortable at the shelter. For a long time she hid but has really come around in the last few weeks and now seeks out the volunteers for love and attention. Shes a quiet unassuming girl but with a "tortitude" streak thrown in for good measure! She does well with other kitties that respect her space and will make a really nice furry companion. She has a sensitive tummy but has responded well to a sensitive stomach prescription food that can be purchased from a vet or ordered from an on-line service with a vet prescription. Cardamom has a deep dark tortoiseshell coat with the cutest of black smudges across her face. MORE DETAILS: Inside-only home and must keep claws. The adoption fee for this kitty is $100. Adopt a pair of kitties for $150. Each cat and kitten has been: altered (spayed/neutered), vaccinated (age-appropriate) - rabies and distemper combo, microchipped, tested for FeLV (negative unless previously noted), and treated for fleas, ear mites, and worms. We ask that interested parties fill out a cat adoption questionnaire only if you are seriously considering adopting this sweet kitty. You can get the application by going to our website at "http://www.panorapets.com/adopt" and clicking on the "Cat Adoption Questionnaire" button at the top of the page. Once you have submitted the questionnaire, an adoption coordinator will contact you usually within 24 hours. Please be patient and thank you for your interest in this kitty. P.E.T.S. supports the "Paws Need Claws" Campaign. Cats are rather attached to their claws; please do not de-claw your cats.
