When Katrina first arrived she would allow petting while she was still in a cage, and was more fearful than aggressive, But since she was released out into the population, unfortunately we havent been able to pet her again. We dont know much about her background before she came to the Goathouse but Kartina now has a permanent safe place to call home.

If interested in adopting from the Goathouse Refuge, please plan to take the following steps required in our adoption process:

1. Come for a Visit: No appointment necessary: just drop by during our normal visiting hours of noon - 3 PM. Were open seven days a week, iincluding holidays, though if visiting during the week we ask that you call our office in advance at (919) 542-6815 and confirm availability of our staff.

2. Complete our online application: Visit our website (click link above of go to www.goathouserefuge.org under the adopt tab).

3. Home Visit: All adoption applications will be reviewed by the refuge staff, and if the applicant seems to be a good fit for the cat(s) of interest, the refuge will contact the interested party to set up a home visit. Only after a representative of the refuge conducts a home visit then consider continuing with the adoption process.

AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
