Additional Information: Having been rescued from a home that didnt understand her needs, snappy dresser Socks is looking for a forever home where she can be a pampered house cat with a patient owner. Socks is sweet and curious and wants to explore at her own pace; too much noise or people trying to handle her overstimulates her. But once she gets comfortable with you, shes all in and will greet you with purrs. Quiet, she wears a bell so you can find her when shes sleeping someplace secret, like in the back of your closet or behind the couch. Socks will never turn down an invitation to cuddle; shes not a lap cat, but wants to snuggle next to you in bed or on the couch. She likes soft, slow pets, gazing out the window watching people and birds, and once she discovers how cozy your bed is, youll often find her there. Socks has a youthful spirit and absolutely loves catnip kicker toys. She also likes plushie mice she can bat around. Shes tolerant of lower energy cats that arent into rough housing, and with older kids who arent grabby. Fishy foods are her favorite. Apply for Socks today!

If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).

Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.

Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
