AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Mango & Papaya are two very sweet female sisters. Gerbils are very social, so it is important they have each other and stay together. Both are believed to be around 4 months old. They came in as an owner surrender, originally bought for a young child who lost interest. Mango & Papaya are both agoutis, but Mango is a little bigger than Papaya. Gerbils are very active and are often awake during the day. They love anything cardboard, deep bedding, taking regular sand baths and running in their wheel. Papaya and Mango are very curious and love to know what you are doing. While gerbils can live in bin style cages 100qrt or larger, we generally prefer 40-gallon aquariums. At the moment the rescue has two 110 qrt bin style cages with accessories that were made for the rescue (see last photo). The gerbils currently live in a similar set up. Only asking $30 for the set up. Like all gerbils, Mango & Papaya are pretty fast, but we have not had a problem handling them.

Gerbils can make cute and fun little pets, but as any pets do, they require some special care.
