Critical- Adoptive home or emergency foster needed- Mata’s owner Bruce just passed away from cancer. His final wish was to see that Mata found a loving home to spend the rest of her years. The dog behaviorists assessment of Mata: “I will say that she is your typical GSD. She is protective but the biggest sweetheart once bonded. After a few treats and getting down on her level, she rolled over for belly rubs. For a 12-year-old GSD, she is in EXCELLENT health! She has no problems walking or running with surprisingly no hip or back leg issues.” Mata can go to a home with other grown dogs, provided they have proper introductions. She can be with older kids (12+). She LOVES being outside so a fenced in yard is a MUST. You can see a video of her here: https://fb.watch/fnNyT_ENcn/ She will need a dental which we will cover, along with anything else she needs. Mata does have some separation anxiety, but she takes Prozac for this (we will continue to provide this). She is not a fan of a crate or anyone leaving her for more than a few hours. Mata is also used to getting her stuffed peanut butter Kong each time her person leaves- it distracts her from her worry. Mata first came to us years ago with her brother Kata, after their first owner passed away. They were so tightly bonded we didn’t want to break them up and thanks to Bruce we didn’t have to. After Kata passed recently, Bruce and Mata bonded even more. Bruce reached out days ago to let us know he had progressive cancer in multiple areas. Weighing heaviest on his mind though was not having anyone who would love Mata after he was gone. If you can provide love to this sweet girl, please reach out. If you are not able to but know someone else who might be, please share this with them. Bruce is gone too soon, but we can still honor him by finding Mata the best home to live out her remaining years. It’s all he wanted for her, and she deserves it.
