Background : Arrived from Mexico from The-Dog GoProject Sept 25 2022

DOB Dec 2021 8 months old

Roxy’s story is, sadly, yet another case of mistreatment and irresponsible owners in Mexico. Roxy, her little brothers, and her mom lived in a neighbourhood. The owners kept her mother tied up and without food. Everyone was starving. She has been rescued by The Dog-Go Project!

Update from her SPR Foster family | Oct 5 2022

Personality

Meet Roxy, a Mexi mutt who came to Canada with her 3 siblings. Roxy is a stunning sweetheart who gets regularly stopped on walks by people telling her how cute and sweet she is. Although she looks deceivingly large, Roxy is approximately 20-25lbs and will mostly likely not grow larger than 40lbs. She is people social and always calmly leans in for pets from anyone we meet. Roxy is best friends with her foster sister (a 2 year old dog) but can be a little shy when meeting new dogs for the first time, thus she could do a home with well-mannered doggy siblings with proper introductions.

Activity

Roxy is currently a medium energy dog who enjoys her 2 45 minute walks with her foster family each day and spends the rest of the day snoozing around the house. Roxy is learning the ropes of play and is learning to love playing fetch with her foster sister. Roxy is an easy going gal who would be well suited to condo living or a home with a backyard!

Training

As Roxy is still a puppy, she came to Toronto still needing some work on house and crate training. Her foster family reports that she has been accident free since the first couple of days but is taken out every 3 hours to help potty train her. Roxy loves to be with her people thus she can sometimes get stressed in her crate and pant. She does not bark in her crate and her ideal home would include a family who can help her work to make her crate her safe space. Roxy is an INCREDIBLY smart cookie who is very food motivated. Her training to date has gone swimmingly and Roxy knows Sit, Down, Crate, and is learning a variety of other commands.

Ideal Home\t

Roxy would be okay really in any home as long her family is willing to work on the crate and puppy training. She would be fine in a condo vs house, doesnt necessarily need a backyard, is fine with kids, great with people, good with other dogs in the home.

FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM

Sea Paws Rescue’s foster-to-adopt Program allows approved applicants to take an animal into their home until the animal’s health is approved by a licensed veterinarian in Canada. Fostering with the intention of adopting an animal is a special situation. It is NOT an adoption or a routine foster care agreement. This agreement between yourself and Sea Paws Rescue allows the animal that you wish to adopt to live with you before the adoption is finalized. It means that the animal belongs to Sea Paws Rescue NOT yourself until the adoption has been finalized and all proper paperwork has been agreed upon. You are fostering with the intent of adopting this animal in the future. The animal will remain on hold/unavailable to other potential adopters – the adoption will remain pending until the animal has seen a licensed veterinarian in Canada and the process has been completed. Most of these animals come from overseas and will be placed into our foster to adopt program if there are no concerns from the shelter they are coming from.

What it takes to join our FTA Program:
- Live in the GTA
- Able to take your FTA to all approved vet appointments covered by SPR (basic vetting)
- Patience and ability to wait to be matched by our adoption team
