FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM - GTA ONLY Email adoptions@seapawsrescue.org to get more info & start your application for our foster to adopt program! Background: Arrived from Mexico from The-Dog GoProject Sept 25 2022 | DOB Dec 2021 | 8 Months old Claudy used to live in a poor neighbourhood along with her mom and her siblings. The owners had Claudys mom tied all the time and starving to death. The Dog-Go Project rescued her, she will be arriving in Toronto around Sept 17, Date to be confirmed soon! Personality Claudy is a beautiful puppy who enjoys the company of humans and other dogs too, although she definitely prefers her human friends. She likes to play on her own with some entertaining toys or with her buddies too. She also enjoys sitting on your lap while you rub her head or her belly and in return she pays you with her tender, puppy kisses. ***update Oct 6 from SPR Foster Family*** Personality Claudy is such a loving and sweet girl who loves to cuddle. She LOVES to play, and gets quite hyper when chasing her toys around and jumping around. She loves being around her human but will just sit quietly beside when working or relaxing on the couch. Claudy does enjoy going for her walks, but is still a pretty nervous girl and will need a family who are willing to be patient with her and put in the time to train her . Claudy has started showing interest in other dogs as she gets more exposure and time to settle in. She has come a long way in her short stay in her foster home so far. Activity Claudy starts the day with a quick walk for bathroom break but shes often keen to go home and have her breakfast. Usually she has breakfast (in her crate) while foster mum goes to the gym and then Claudy will have a longer walk in the morning before Foster mom starts work. If her Foster mom is working from home Claudy is usually chill to relax and around lunchtime its time for a walk, or an afternoon play in the garden. A short walk before dinner and after dinner before settling for a nice evening. Bedtime is around 10pm where Claudy gets her last little walk in. Training Claudy is fully house trained and has zero accidents. Shes ok at night time in her crate but not super keen on it during the day, but she does settle and never barks - and ok to be left up to four hours. (she is still a puppy who needs frequent washroom breaks) Claudy is getting used to going to the park to socialize. She is nervous so playtime can be short if she is not comfortable. Her Foster family uses a short and 15ft leash. She will need leash training. She will pull when she gets nervous and wants to go home. Shes already made such good progress in ten days, and responds really well to training. Ideal home Claudy would be best in a quiet home with people that are willing to have patience and put the work into training and making Claudy feel safe and comfortable. She is not suited for people that are out at work all day and leaving her alone. She is a very loving dog and is happiest with her humans around. Claudy has been with her dog siblings for most of her life, so she is used to other dogs, however with her being so nervous at this time she will probably be ok with meeting the right dog, her new family will need to be committed to helping Claudy feel comfortable with all her new family members. Claudy has only been around one child and was extremely nervous around them. We suggest that older dog savvy kids would be best for introductions to Claudy. Claudy is the sweetest pup and would give her human all the love in the world. Would you like to meet Claudy? ***Apply here **** http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM Sea Paws Rescue’s foster-to-adopt Program allows approved applicants to take an animal into their home until the animal’s health is approved by a licensed veterinarian in Canada. Fostering with the intention of adopting an animal is a special situation. It is NOT an adoption or a routine foster care agreement. This agreement between yourself and Sea Paws Rescue allows the animal that you wish to adopt to live with you before the adoption is finalized. It means that the animal belongs to Sea Paws Rescue NOT yourself until the adoption has been finalized and all proper paperwork has been agreed upon. You are fostering with the intent of adopting this animal in the future. The animal will remain on hold/unavailable to other potential adopters – the adoption will remain pending until the animal has seen a licensed veterinarian in Canada and the process has been completed. Most of these animals come from overseas and will be placed into our foster to adopt program if there are no concerns from the shelter they are coming from. What it takes to join our FTA Program: - Live in the GTA - Able to take your FTA to all approved vet appointments covered by SPR (basic vetting) - Patience and ability to wait to be matched by our adoption team
