When\xa0Tia\xa0retired in 2015, we named her Dina. Her racing name was Dutch Dina. She was renamed Tia by her family, who she lived with for 6 years.\xa0 Tia had her medical checkup and dental cleaning. She lost 3 teeth and one tooth was infected and had eroded into her sinus. She is recovering nicely, and this should not leave any long term effects. Tia is living in a foster home with 2 female retired racers. She seems to be in the middle of the pack; being respectful of the dominant girl and not causing any issues with the submissive dog. She is learning how to interpret dog body language and will walk away, rather than escalating a situation. She is a very sweet girl. Tia is dog door and crate trained. She hadn’t been playing with toys, but she is learning that squeaky toys are fun. She is nervous on car rides but she willingly jumps in the back of an SUV. One of Tia’s bigger issues during monsoon season is her fear of thunder. She wears a Thundershirt, has an Adaptil collar and air dispenser, and takes a Trazadone. Strangely enough, she does not freak out with a loud vacuum noise.
