Callie is looking for her forever human(s)! She is a 8 year old lab/hound mix. Callie was found as a stray in rural Oklahoma and no one ever came forward for her. We suspect her life was rough before rescue and she is most grateful to be in a home now, and it shows! She really couldnt be any more perfect. She loves snuggles, sunbathing and scritches. She is totally crate trained but can be trusted left out of her crate as long as there is no food sitting out. She loves her crate and often goes into her "nest" to chew on her bones or have a nap. Callie loves the car and is an all around 11/10 companion. Her ideal home would be one with a fenced yard. She really loves to let her nose guide her to allllll the smells and she enjoys taking her time smelling all she can in her foster moms backyard. She loves mornings that are cool so she can rest in her yard and bask in the sun. She loves children and would enjoy resident or visiting kiddos. Callie enjoys playdates with friends, and is especially patient with puppies. She would also thrive as an only dog because she really likes all the focus to be on her. Callie will tell you every morning just how excited she is for breakfast. Its her favorite part of the day and she has a dance to prove it! Callie would appreciate it if any interested humans would do some research into the hound breed before applying, as they are a very unique breed group! Hounds tend to be independently driven and want to understand why a task is important before they agree to said task. Callie likes to "bay" when she sees people or dogs while she watches out the window. This is human speak for what she considers "singing." It is natural to hounds and she hopes her human(s) will appreciate it. She also loves to roll in smelly things - another hound trait. It makes her so happy that her foster mom has given in and lets her do it. So Callie would appreciate a home with a walk in shower or a human who could help her step into a bathtub. Sounds like lots of work, right? Nope! Callie loves the bath. She often falls asleep during her spa treatments. She thanks you in advance for loving these traits and tendencies, because they are instinctual to her and make her special. Callie is a very sweet and kind dog. She has so much love to give. Her foster mom remains awestruck that she was unwanted and abandoned in the rural south, as it is so hard to imagine anyone not loving everything about her. Her foster mom is so grateful that Second Chance brought her to Missouri, where she has been showered with affection, praise, and adoration!
