I’m Kella, so very nice to meet you! Anyone who knows me will tell you that Im a beautiful and super sweet girl with lots of love to give, and my intelligence is my best asset…bragging rights level in fact!

Once Im comfortable in my surroundings I love adults and children and am loyal to my person! I love to be around my human companions and enjoy being petted, belly rubs however Im not needy when it comes to affection so I am very happy in my bed and even love to be covered up, especially at bed time. I am crate trained (however its not my favorite place to be) and house trained, as a matter of fact I have learned to ring potty bells when I need to go outside. I am super clean and have never had an accident in the house. I also have stellar manners as I do not touch/chew anything that does not belong to me, stop barking when Im asked to and I do not jump up on my humans. I eat twice a day, drink lots of water, and of course I love treats:) which, by the way, I take gently from your hand. Oh, and I also give nice kisses:)

Learning and performing tricks is one of my favorite things to do, as well as playing with a kong or other difficult to access/high reward game/toy. I love playing gentle tug-of-war, and running around the yard playing catch. My most favorite thing to do is go for long walks, I especially love to play in the water in the creeks. I like to go for a jog too. I have lots of energy so you need to be able to keep up with my level of endurance!

I don’t like being left at home for super long periods of time, but who does? That being said, I understand that people need to go out for important human reasons and I can manage about five hours alone before I get antsy. This may change once I am comfortable in my forever home. Either way, I’m always super excited to see you when you arrive home and will be grateful than ever to be let out or to join you on a stroll.

Although I have impeccable manners when at home I get protective of my humans when I am out on a walk and can forget my training. I will show moderate to high aggression towards other dogs and need a human that has the strength and knowledge to positively redirect my behaviour. Also, I have Hound in me and am prey-driven, but if you tell me not to try to chase a squirrel/cat/raccoon etc, I won’t even pull on the leash. It means more to me not to yank you than to pretend I can get that squirrel! Just please, remind me, or I will likely get excited and try. I have been working with a trainer to manage my behaviour and am showing tremendous gains in these areas however I need consistency to be successful with ignoring these distractions when out in the community.

Foster update:
Looking for a sweet affectionate love bug…well look no further. Kella is your girl. Kella is extremely obedient, loving, gentle with children, learns commands quickly, as she is ridiculously intelligent, and is eager to please. Kella also enjoys playing with her toys, spending time outdoors in the sun, being shown affection, running and chasing after her favorite ball outside or just relaxing with her people. Kella is a high energy dog and requires lengthy walks or runs to keep her happy. Her demeanor does change (she becomes whiny and sad) if she does receive adequate exercise. She has never had an accident in the house and is also crate trained. Kella also appears to have a healthy digestive system, eats and drinks well with no apparent allergies or preference for food brands although we consistently feed her Acana. Kella does tend to eat her meals quickly although a slow feeding bowl has solved that concern. Kellas weight is perfect and her coat is healthy and shiny with no apparent skin issues. Kella does not appear to have any issues with expressing her glands and has regular bowel movements. Overall, Kella appears to be in very good health.

Kellas ideal foster/adoptive home would have a backyard and a family/person(s) that have the time to keep up with her level of energy. Kella would love an owner who is interested in participating in agility training! Kella would also flourish best in a home where she is the only pet and with experienced and disciplined dog owners.
