Our friends at Fulton County Animal Services contacted us on behalf of Winnie, formerly known as Steph, with a desperate plea for help. Winnie came in as a stray, dragging a leash, in terrible shape, with an awful upper respiratory infection. She was lethargic, not eating, had diarrhea, was vomiting, and had nasal discharge. Her body temperature was 105 degrees, when a normal dog temp is about 101 to 102. She crashed quickly and they brought her to the Emergency clinic, however the shelter is no place for a dog in such critical condition. Lucky for Winnie, we had a foster step up to see her through her recovery. Winnie had a terrible case of pneumonia and her lungs sounded very wet, but after many weeks of breathing treatments and antibiotics, her lungs finally cleared.
Winnie was a trooper through her medical treatments and has proved to be a wonderful lady. She has also done well with and enjoys the company of the other dogs in her foster home. Winnie is a happy go lucky gal that enjoys exploring outside and going for car rides. She gets very excited about going to rides and is a super strong gal. Her foster family is working with her on not pulling on the lead. At her foster home, you will likely find her chewing her Benebones or simply following her people around the house. She is a fairly active dog who will do best with regular exercise, or maybe even a doggie sibling to zoom around the yard with. She is crate-trained, housebroken, fully vetted, and ready for a forever family!
Winnies DNA test results are back and she is 75% American Staffordshire Terrier, 12.5% American Bulldog, and 12.5% Chow Chow
