PRECIOUS POCKET PITTIE ALERT!!

Adorable Farris is a 2 year old female pitbull mix. She currently weighs 45 pounds and is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and ready to find a family to call her own!

This pretty girl is a dream, she’s such a sweetheart! We as her foster parents will have a very hard time saying goodbye to her, but know the very best forever home is out there waiting for her. Farris is a sweet, silly, floppy little bundle of love and will be the most perfect new family member addition, bringing so much love and fun to them.

Farris is very dog friendly from what we can tell from interacting with our own 9 year old male Staffordshire Terrier, Kingston. She LOVES Kingston so much, she follows him around and sneaks into his bed to snuggle with him. 

Farris is young and has a moderate energy level, but she also can be pretty mellow. She sleeps most of the day after having a morning walk and play time. Once or twice a day she will get the zoomies and run around the yard until she’s exhausted. We imagine she’d be a good running and hiking companion. She’s a fast runner and very agile. 

Farris has not been exposed to cats, but she does like to chase squirrels, so we anticipate she might not be cat friendly. 

Farris hasn’t yet been around any children except for one encounter with a 6 or 7 year old that she was very sweet with. She’s very friendly with every adult she meets, though she does have a tendency to jump and because of this we feel she might not be best suited for a home with children under the age of 5 or so. The jumping has gotten better and can probably be easily trained out of her however, and then we feel she’d be okay with any age of child. She’s increasingly responsive to commands of “down” or “no”.

She generally walks great on a leash! She walks nicely at our pace and doesn’t pull. 

Farris is fully potty trained! She only does her business in the backyard and out on walks. 

Farris is such a sweetheart and shares her food and toys so nicely with her furry foster brother. Her food bowl is right next to our dog’s bowl and she will eat her food only.

Farris would love a home with a backyard and another dog to play with OR an active family who will take her out on adventures! Another dog in the home isnt necessary, but it would be a bonus. Her foster brother has definitely helped her settle in and feel more confident since arriving in Portland. 

Farris prefers if her crate is kept in the main living area where she can see another dog if shes going to be kept kenneled. She does whine, but will eventually settle. She loves her chew toys and she also LOVES her stuffed animal and rope toy for tugging. To keep her occupied when she goes in her crate she loves raw beef marrow bones, her kong with peanut butter, bully sticks and Himalayan yak chews. Her foster mom has left her loose to free roam for up to an hour and she did well with this. In her foster home in Houston she didnt have any issues, so we think shes still adjusting to her new foster home. We are super hopeful for a patient family who will be understanding of this adjustment period. 

Farris is very sweet, smart and adaptive. She responds very quickly to the training we’ve done with her. She learned to not go on the couch or jump up on things within a day or two. She knows “sit” and “no” and takes treats sooo gently! She is very food motivated. She will obey “come” and do things you want her to if you have treats. She’s great at getting baths and going for car rides!!

Farris has been fine and friendly meeting strangers both at home and in public. She can be a little timid at times but warms up to people pretty quickly. Loud noises sometimes startle her, but she will adjust quickly once shes comforted and knows shes safe.

She also loves nature. We took her camping and she did really well with the unfamiliar surroundings. She loved going on hikes and splashing at the edge of the lake (she does know how to swim but it’s unknown if she likes it or not, though we think she eventually will be a water dog).
