Esperanza comes to us from a former life as a “rental horse” (horses rented out to various camps and riding programs during the riding season and then returning to be ‘turned out’ in a large pasture with a large herd during the off season; typically meeting only the minimal care requirements, often times less than that). From what were told, shes been a rental horse at a few rental facilities, and following some feet issues and lameness has been retired and GRG Ranch was contacted to offer her a safe place to land and the opportunity for some thorough vet care to help her with her soundness. Weve discovered that this sweet little girl has suffered some laminitis- but has a very slight rotation, so she does have a future of light riding with kids in store with proper diet management and care! Weve also learned from her blood work that shes got Cushings, so has been started on Prascend daily to manage her symptoms and is doing great!! Shell need to be on a dry lot and fed a low starch, low sugar diet, and regular hoof care is a must, but this sweet mare has SO much to offer and is looking for her forever home!
