Meet Kate Age: 2 + years Breed: Northern Special – Unknown – Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix Is your dog good with other dogs: Kate is very dog selective she seems to be better with other calm females. She is in a foster home with 3 other dogs and does better with the female only around. Slow introductions are a must with Kate and other dogs. Kate gives off wonderful body language about her dislikes before she growls. She will vocalize her discomfort. Is your dog good with cats: yes, dog savvy cats! Is your dog good with kids: she is great with the 2 kids in her foster home and listens to their directions. 8 year old is able to walk Kate with parent supervision Is your dog house trained: Yes Is your dog crate trained: Yes, Kate does great in her crate she goes into it no problem and doesn’t bark or cry. Does your dog have any special needs or medical conditions? No nothing major, she should put on a few more pounds but that can be solved easily with a strict feeding schedule. Does your dog have any or display any aggression (toys, food, people, leash reactivity: Kate hasn’t shown any leash reactivity in her current foster home. She will definitely need a calm, confident owner Is your dog playful: She is very playful when it’s just her and her foster mom Does your dog like to snuggle: she loves a good snuggle and getting head & belly rubs Does your dog know basic commands: Kate knows sit, stay, lay down and come. Does your dog know any special tricks: 8 year old in the house has been working on Katess smell skills for picking a hand that has the treat in it. He has also taught her how to spin Does your dog like to go on walks: Kate loves going on walks, especially when she knows her foster family is taking her down to the river! She does pull while walking but is making tremendous progress on her leash manners. Does your dog have any fears: No fears but she does need a lot of reassurance while doing new activities Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: Kate has a very funny personality. She’s very silly in the way she plays and attempts to get your attention. Kate will remind you if you haven’t given her enough pets by pawing at you. She also has this beautiful white spot on the back of her neck. What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: Loyal, funny, insecure In a short paragraph Please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog Kate originally came to us back in February 2022 and was surrendered to the rescue due to no fault of her own. Kate needs a confident and calm owner who is able to continue with her leash work. She is very food motivated and easily learns a new trick. She has learned the routine in the foster home in less than a week and seems to thrive on keeping a strict schedule. Kate gets crated during the day when foster family is away and at night to sleep. She knows that she gets to go for a walk as soon as foster mom wakes up or gets home from work and will go straight to the door and wait.
