Briar has been in foster care  for a year and half.  She has come so far since being dumped with her babies in a rescuers yard in the middle of the night in March 2021. The kind rescuer then brought her to foster care.   She was scared and unsure of that was happening to her.  Once she realized she was safe with her babies in foster care, she began to open up and soak up the love and attention.  

She LOVES attention and would love to have a person devote all their love and time to her.  She has completed Basic training and does well on a leash and is working on other manners.  She has done well out in public at a variety of stores and parks during Advanced training.  She aims to please her person and is very treat motivated.  

Briar is a 2-3 year old shepherd/hound/heeler mix?
She doesnt quite understand personal space and wants to be near her person.  She needs a patient home that is willing to continue to work on her training and helping her be the best dog.  She recently went swimming for the first time and did great.  Shed make a great agility dog or even barn hunt competitor.  

Shed do best as an only dog where she can get all the attention and love.  Shed be best in a home with teenagers and those that understand her needs.  

She does need a tall secure fence as she may jump 4ft or shorter type fences or may try to find a way over ones that look like she can make it.  She also chases the cats in her foster home so needs a home without any cats and probably chickens and bunnies as she seems to have a high prey drive.  

If you meet her, she’s sure to steal your heart, so if you are ready to love her and her quirks, she’ll love you back.  (just remember the treats too)!  With time, patience and continued work on obedience training, shell make a great companion dog.

She is crate trained and does well being crated during the day. 

Her adoption fee is $125.00.  She is spayed and is up to date on vaccinations including rabies. We require a fenced yard (or if you live in the country with acreage, approval is on a case by case basis). We require that our dogs be allowed in their family home and be allowed to sleep inside at night.  An adoption contract is completed and signed at the time of adoption.  

We are located in Billings, Montana and require adopters to travel to our location.
