Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: unknown Good With Kids: Unknown Kennel Trained: Yes Age: Approx. 1 Year Adoption Fee: $ 350 Fee Includes: Current vaccinations, micro chip Sometimes a dog finds itself in Rescue and it just needs a little time to get its feet under it before its ready for adoption. That wasnt the case with Hannah aka Porcupine Hannah. She came in as a Dead Dog Walking, just at the end of her trail. Shes from the Reservationz of South Dakota where porcupines are more plentiful than other food sources sometimes. Nobody wins with that meal choice because a dog cant eat or drink with a mouth full of quills. Thats where Hannahs rescue story starts. Lightshine, the first 911 rescue got her first surgery to remove quills and shortly thereafter Emotional Rescue got her the second. When quills arent addressed immediately, the travel through tissue for several weeks. SEVERAL. It speaks highly of her temperament that she would sit patiently as her foster mom felt all over her face and inside her mouth, pulling quills if the poked out. Her personality is remarkable. Hannah started putting on weight steadily, then suddenly her belly swelled. Thankfully, it was caused by pregnancy, not by another serious emergency. Hannah was a wonderful mother and successfully raised her litter while also helping with some of the new, scared pups as they came into rescue. Shes quite remarkable that way. She also joined a play group with some of our more fragile, special needs dogs. She plays so wonderfully with them. Hannah could do well in just about any home. Shes people friendly and dog friendly. Shed probably do well to avoid cats and porcupines. Were calling Hannah a Shepherd mix that is just over a year old. She is as close to perfect as anyone can come so I expect her to be adopted quickly. Hurry and get your application in. Shes in Hastings, Mn. Applications are at emotionalrescuedogs.org.
