Animal Profile:
Zoe is an estimated 1-year-old, 45 lb female Shepherd mix who joined us from Visalia Animal Shelter on 7/3. She and her sister Luna were found as strays in May and have been at the shelter, growing up, for almost two months.

Foster Update: Zoe has settled into her foster home in the greater Seattle area. She is still a bit skittish and getting used to noises in her new surroundings. Small noises still startle her, but she is making improvements each day. She was fast to learn how to enter the crate, and she can settle down in there when her foster is at home. She does tend to be vocal in the crate right after her foster leaves the home, but she will settle down and be quieter after a few moments.

Zoe walks well on leash and tends to stick close to her fosters side. She is known to change lanes abruptly, but she does not pull. Noises can startle her on a walk, so she will need someone to continue to expose her to her environment and work on relaxing on a walk.

Zoe is good with other dogs, and would benefit from a calm, balanced resident dog in her forever home. She has met kids and can relax around them if they are dog savvy and mostly ignore her. She actively moves away from cats that she sees when on a walk, so she might be able to coexist with a cat in the home.

Zoe is pretty chill in the home, with occasional spurts of energy. She wants to play with her person but does calm down to sleep by a persons feet. She is motivated by her people and likes to receive positive reinforcement. She has been working on her separation anxiety in the crate when her foster does leave the home.

Zoe would probably do better in a single-family home or an apartment/condo that has direct access outdoors (no shared hallways or elevators). She will need a family who will continue her training and keep showing her how to be calm and relaxed.
