**Alphonse has to be adopted into a home with no other birds and no dogs or cats**

Hello! My name is Alphonse, and I am a rare and beautiful Cuban Amazon. I am so beautiful that many aviculturists consider me to be the most beautiful of the Amazons! I am 7 years old so I am a young parrot as my species can live up to 50-60 years! I was loved by my family but unfortunately, I do not get along with other birds or animals. Due to lack of space and my family wanting the best quality of life for me, they asked Florida Parrot Rescue to help me find a new forever home. 

I am a timid, anxious, and shy bird. I love being in the same room as people, but I do not like being handled. I do get lonely when I do not see my people, so I will cry and yell (not very loudly) and fly to the room you are in, if I think you are gone for too long. Since I become very unhappy being alone, I need to be adopted into a home where my adopter is retired, works from home, or is at home most of the day. 

Although I do not like being handled, I will step up and will even step up on shoulders, but only for food/treats. My favorite treat is pistachios! I will do almost anything for them!! So maybe with some consistent training and trust building, I will come around to learning to like being handled more. 

I also love keyboards and will try to pull the keys off! So please make sure you have extra keyboards that I can play with. I can say a few phrases such as "whatcha doing." I will flare my feathers when you whistle. Easy shredder toys are my favorite, though I am pretty gentle and delicate with them. 

My dislikes are barking dogs and baths/showers. I can hear the neighbors dogs barking and they scare me. So, I need to be adopted into a home where I am the only bird and no other 4-legged animals. I am just too anxious to be around them! Although I do not like baths, I will not become aggressive if I am given a mist bath. 

I went to the vet, and I am very healthy. The vet said I am a little overweight, but they think it will come off with time. My foster mom is making sure that I do not overindulge with my favorite treats and is giving me a healthy diet to help with the extra weight.    

I am a bird of simple taste, not picky, and easy to care for. If you have lots of patience and love to give me, why not fill out an application so we can meet!

An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption.

Adoption fees include the bird’s cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
