Spike was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. Although he was mostly kept outside, he has adjusted to life at the shelter. Although Spike looks serious, he has an amazing "doggy grin" that lights up his face when he sees people. He is comfortable wandering around the yard as long as he can return and snuggle with his human. At 69 pounds, that is a lot of snuggling! He is learning proper behavior cues, and his leash walking skills are improving daily. Spike should be the only pet in the house and due to his size, live with a family with older children. He can be hesitant of new things so a breed knowledgeable owner would be best. The shelter has an appointment only policy. We ask potential adopters to fill out our application, prior to a scheduled meeting. The staff is very accommodating, and we welcome any inquires.
