Nutmeg is approximately 5 years old and is a red heeler mix.  He is always happy and gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a household with a cat.  He is moderately playful and willing to follow other dogs leads.  Because of his herding instinct he does nip at strangers that come on his turf.  We are not sure how he is with small children but believe he will do well with older ones.   Nutmeg is house trained, neutered and current on his vaccines. He doesnt like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside.  We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him however he probably would like another pooch to pal around with.  He likes to explore and therefore needs a large yard.  A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only and is not available to apartment dwellers.
