In shelter Dog

Houston, TX, 77205
Pet name:
Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Arlo. Im handsome, highly intelligent, funny, charming, lovable, and extremely energetic. Im not really a puppy, but I still act like one much of the time. I need lots of attention and a job to do. I am not one to be stuck in a crate and left alone for long periods. I like all humans, but Im too rough for little kids. I move hard and fast, and dont always put on the brakes. I like other dogs, but I can be protective of my food and toys. Im really hoping to become a therapy dog, or something cool like that. I can run fast and jump high, so I would be awesome at agility. True to my breed, I also like to herd my sisters. I enjoy doing fun activities and learning. Im also a great TV Buddy. I love to cuddle, and I really like shows with animals, especially other dogs. I recently discovered I can jump almost 6 feet straight up. So I need a high fence when playing in the yard. I need a parent who can recognize and appreciate my amazing abilities, and will continue to bring out the best in me. Is that you?

that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations.

Children under 8 years old
often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.

Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue!

The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip.
Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteers experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others.
AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
