Scout #9040 is a handsome 3-year-old male, Cattle dog mix. Scout is always on the lookout for friends. He is house and crate trained. He is good on leash. He likes playing with other dogs, though he is dog selective. We recommend that he be the only dog in his home. He is a working breed and needs a job and mental stimulation or can get himself into mischief. This energetic boy has had obedience training. He has had a bit of break and is seeking an adopter who can help him refresh his skills; he is very smart. He knows the sit, down and paw commands. He is working on the come command. He would do best in a home where he can get his energy worked out regularly and not with infants (due to high energy). He has been in a home with younger children and did fine with them but was on alert with their friends who were not part of his herd; for this reason, we don’t recommend a home with young children. Typical of his breed he can also be protective of his yard. He loves kongs and nylabone toys. He loves car rides. He would do best with an active adopter who has breed experience. He does not like his nails trimmed and will need to be muzzled when he gets his nails trimmed. He weighs 35 pounds and is full grown. This pup is microchipped. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new trick, so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dogs mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups, should be on heartworm preventative; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
