Description:
Jack is a young, visually impaired boy. He ispossibly a Jack Russell Terrier/Beagle Mix. He has been visually impaired since birth. He is missing his left eye because it didnt develop. His right eye may not have full vision either. Due to his impairment, he can be reactive when a person makes sudden movements around is head especially from the back or his left side. Being in a noisy kennel environment can be unsettling for Jack at times. Speaking to him while nearing his kennel and not making any sudden movements seems to help him know that you are approaching. Activities: Jack enjoys car rides and walks. He can jump in and out of the backseat. Since he is a busy rider, he is safer being tethered in the backseat. He likes to look and stick his nose out the window. On his walks, his nose is to the ground checking out all those good critter smells. Other dogs: Jack has had meet and greets with other LifeHouse guests in the play yard. While the meetings went well, Jack definitely had a good time with a small, 1-year old boy dog. They had fun running around the play yard chasing each other. Cats: Jack hasnt officially been cat tested, he has been around one cat in the LifeHouse lobby. There was a little bit of a curious sniff between the two. Both remained calm. Training:Jack seems to be familiar with sit. He also seems a little less familiar with wait.Since Jack has shown he has some experience withtraining, he would benefit from further training and it would create a great bond with his new family. Jack would thrive in a home where adults and children (12+ years of age) respectively understand his visual limitations. He would like a family that is active with walks, car rides and other fun activities that Jack can discover with his new family. 8/22 Jack had developed a worsening cough. Vet determined he has a grade 4-5 heart murmur. He is now taking Furosemide 3 times a day and Enalapril once a day which he has no problem with because it means he gets more hotdogs! If you have a quiet lap and understand that sometimes a dog can be very selective with his friends, we would like you to meet him.
