Rocky is looking for his rock! At 3 years old, he was surrendered due to severe separation anxiety and is looking for a calm, consistent home environment with a family dedicated to positive training. While he knows basic commands, he needs training to build confidence and work through his anxiety and leash reactivity. In the right home, he’s an incredible companion and we’re confident he will thrive. He is in perfect health and is full of wonderful qualities – smart as a whip, a fetch pro, and cat-, dog-, and kid-friendly (ages 10+). Rocky is sweet, expressive, energetic, loves to chew, enjoys snuggling, and likes playing with the dog in his foster home. He is also fully potty-trained, but does make accidents due to his anxiety. He is crate trained, but due to his prior life experiences, Rocky exhibits signs of stress (e.g., panting, crying) when the crate is closed even if people are present. He would ideally start off not having to be crated (including at night -- he currently sleeps in his dog bed), but with training to handle his anxiety, that may later be possible for him. You must meet all of Rocky’s requirements to be considered. These include: Someone who is retired, works from home, or lives in a household where someone in the family is always present. Someone who is experienced with dogs, patient, and committed to positive training methods Able to provide daily exercise and training. Someone who is located in a calm neighborhood – ideally not in a city or busy environment. While not required, Rocky would love a home with an easy-going, playful companion dog. Rocky would do best with a dog that can handle a more aggressive playstyle.
