Sex: Male Breed: Chihuahua x Estimated Birth Date: 4/26/2015 Poor little Rizzy was a victim of domestic violence. Domestic violence often affects the animals in the home just as much as it does the humans. His short life has been filled with trauma but he has known love. Rizzy was originally rescued and nursed back to health when hed been injured in a dog fight. He was loved for several years but unfortunately violence visited his life again. Rizzys mom fled an abusive situation. Rizzy witnessed the abuse in the home. We cant imagine how that affected him. Unfortunately for many abuse survivors they have to give up their pets when they flee. Rizzy lost the only kind home hed ever known through no fault of his own. His moms safety was a priority and unfortunately in situations like this the humans often dont have many options for their animals. Rizzys mom was a survivor and so is he. He has maintained a positive outlook on life even though life hasnt treated him well. Fighters like Rizzy are exactly the kind of dogs who resonate with the inmate handlers in our Pawsitive Change Prison program. His story will touch their hearts as many of them are survivors of abuse and trauma. Rizzy will spend the next 3 months at Tehachapi State Prison inspiring our trainers and learning basic obedience skills. Hes a wonderful little dog and our program will give him the 2nd Chance hes been waiting for.
