Spencer is a 2 year old Chihuahua with a heart of gold. He is a sweet, intelligent little man who loves to snuggle with his person, go for adventures and play with his toys.

Spencer is crate trained and typically sleeps in his kennel over night. However, he is also great sleeping in the bed and loves burrowing under the blankets. Spencer is cat and dog friendly but wouldn’t be best suited for a home with children, as he can be nervous at times with loud/ fast movements. We don’t know much about Spencer’s past history before coming to us but he always winces when you go to pick him up or reach for him especially when holding the leash, so slow movements and patience are the key with this guy. Verbal cues have also been helpful with this and he has picked up on them quickly (ex- saying “big up” before reaching to pick him up).

Spencer knows basic commands (sit, shake a paw, lay down) and picks up new things quickly. He is eager to learn and a very smart. Spencer is house trained but may dribble if he is nervous. Spencer’s foster is still working with him on his leash etiquette as he becomes overly excited and starts to pull when he sees other dogs. He is very eager to make friends but needs an owner who can help him express it appropriately. He can be protective of his person while on leash and that can occasionally translate into growling and resource guarding towards dogs and strangers. He will need a patient and diligent adopter as he continues his leash training journey, as well as someone who will set rules and boundaries with him, like any other dog.

Overall, Spencer has a big as life personality and will make the sweetest, funniest companion you could ask for!\xa0If youre interested in adopting Spencer, please apply below.
