Cedar is an 12 pounds, 6 month old dachshund puppy with "hidden" dappling. He loves to be held and cuddled, but can be nervous with new people and other dogs to start. He is just learning how to play with the other doxie in his home, but in general needs slow introductions to new dogs and work on socialization. He prefers the company of people over dogs but we feel its healthiest for him to find a forever home with both human and canine companions. Cedar will be very needy to start until he learns a routine and feels confident he is in his forever home. Cedar has mostly figured out potty training if you are diligent with taking him out on a schedule but does occasionally mark and therefore wears male diapers. He does have bad separation anxiety and prefers to be with his person, preferably in there lap, at all times. Cedar will be ready for adoption the third or fourth week of September, once he has healed from his neuter. Since this litter of puppies had never socialized with other dogs before, they were terrified when first meeting others. They did find with chill dogs that didnt pay them attention to start and gave them time to warm up, but others were scared of new dogs that wanted to play right away and growled or snapped to begin (but have since warmed up). Slow introductions will be key for these wonderful pups. To be considered for Cedar, please apply on our website: https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform
