Introducing Mr Idaho (foster Mom calls him Taytoe!) This adorable kitty should really be called LOVER BOY! He is the most affectionate cat for which the foster Mom has cared and deserves a busy, love filled home with some friends! He adores her Australian Shepherd dog and has never been afraid of him so he would do well with a respectful calm dog. He hasnt been around cats in his foster home, but his foster mom feels hed enjoy feline friends. Now, Mr. Idaho does have FIV, but as long as the cats get along, he can safely live in a home with FIV- cats. Learn more about FIV below. He allows short sessions of nail trimming once he trusts you. While he is quite shy at first, he will eventually follow you and ask for pets which he ADORES. He is also a talker, but he is a very quiet talker, and it sounds more like chirps than meows most of the time Currently we are working on his play style; he doesnt seem to have much experience playing with toys but does like to chase a long string. He is perfectly happy just hanging out. He is a blank slate with whom you can experiment with toys he may like. He will pay attention to anything with which you engage him, he just doesnt seem sure it is for play, but he is very curious! A little encouragement like "Good Kitty" helps him move forward. He enjoys quality catnip and thin slices of sliced turkey as a treat. He loves to sit next to you while you are reading and will settle down and be quiet and just enjoy your company. If you are busy, he will go off on his own and sleep on the sofa. He would really enjoy sleeping on your bed with you at night. He rarely will jump up on anything (ie countertops, he is allowed on furniture) but a gentle "no" will usually have him scampering off but still wanting to be close to you. The quick movements of small children may scare him especially at onset of meeting them, but foster Mom thinks he may become accustomed to that as long as children are gentle. Mr Idaho initially did not like to be picked up but is getting more accustomed to foster mom picking him up, even to point of holding and petting him like a baby (his back cradled in arm). However, he is not a kitty that will enjoy being carried around. Mr Idaho has been successfully treated for entropion, which is a condition where the eyelid margin rolls inward causing eyelashes and fur to rub on surface of eye. He shows no signs of any irritation and seems to see well. He shouldnt require any additional treatments for this condition. This totally lovable kitty would love a home with companionship and attention!
