dob 2/5/16 Its a new year and a makeover for handsome Kuromi, formerly Bob, renamed after the impish, slightly mischievous free spirit of Hello Kitty fandom. At his foster home we call him Kuromi because we feel it better fits his personality. He is truly one of a kind. Kuromi was a stray found outside with painfully damaged, bleeding paws, which AC PAW first thought was frostbite but later learned is a treatable autoimmune issue. Prescribed with steroids, he is doing great now. His paws have looked good for several months, and though his vet thinks a flare up is possible, the condition is manageable with the oral steroids that Kuromi takes readily. We think his days on the streets have made him a survivor - he walks around with the swagger of a tough cookie who knows who he is, and he doesnt suffer fools gladly. If he were a person, hed always be "keepin it real." Kuromi purrs when you come near him and is one of the easiest cats to handle that weve ever had. He lets my daughter put cat and Christmas pajamas on him without complaint. He likes to be around the action and scurries up or down the stairs depending on where his foster people are headed. He flops down near our doodle when its grooming time and wants to be brushed. He waits outside my daughters bedroom door in the morning to be let in. At times he runs around the house on some kind of urgent mission that no one else knows about. He keeps himself occupied with his favorite "toys" which are a hair tie, a AA battery, and a pipe cleaner. I have bought more expensive toys for him, but he rebuffs my attempts to spoil him with fanciness - he seems to like the simple things in life. He often spends his time next to windows, watching neighborhood activity and jumping at various birds that come to the window feeder, convinced that one day the glass will disappear, and he will succeed. Kuromi needs to be an only kitty. He is a bruiser, likely from his time as a stray, who will get into fights with other cats. This is why we have chosen not to adopt him ourselves even though we love him, and well have truly mixed feelings when he goes to his forever home. We want to keep fostering; unfortunately, we cant have more foster cats with Kuromi in the house. He does well with our doodle. We have not witnessed him with small children, but hes fine with school-aged kids. There is so much more to say about Kuromi, but you really have to meet him for yourself! He is handsome, independent, sweet, and spunky. He will surprise you and make you laugh. We truly hope you will consider being his forever family.
