Socialization/training: Gus is a very sweet dog, and he loves his humans. However, he has some difficulty getting along with other dogs in the house and yard, & therefore would probably do best as an only dog. Gus has a high prey drive and a lot of energy. He is housebroken, knows several commands (sit/down/off/quiet) and walks well on a halter. Gus does well at the vet and groomer (no dryer) including getting his nails done. He was cat tested at the vets office and he was very interested in the cat and wanted to smell and would have played but when the cat put up its paw he politely bowed out and moved away, so he might be good in a home with cats. Crate trained: Yes, but makes a lot of noise. Will shred anything in the crate. Leash trained: Walking with a leash and collar, Gus pulls, but walking with a harness works well. Activity Level: Gus is very energetic and playful. Fence: Needs a fence, very prey oriented. Currently in a 4 physical fence, not invisible fence trained. Behavior: Gus wants to be in the room with you and likes to be petted and lay on you. He does not like to be left alone but has been left in an open room and does well after he settles down with no destructive behavior. Gus is very playful and loves his squeaky duck and pink pig along with tennis balls. He likes to pick up his food dish and carry it around. He is a very happy dog! Medical History: Gus is a healthy dog with no medical issues. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on monthly heartworm prevention. Foster Comments: Gus needs to be an only dog in his adoptive home. He is fine on walks as long as other dogs dont get too close to him. He is prey oriented, so watch out for any birds, squirrels or rabbits! Gus loves his humans, is not food aggressive, loves to play with toys and balls. He is a very silly boy and fun to watch play! Foster location: Parker, CO Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $50.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate). Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions.
