Description:
Simba is a beautiful German Shepherd who came to the rescue after being kept in a basement for the first two years of his life. He was not socialized as a puppy and had little to no kind human interaction. He underwent careful rehabilitation once he was in our care.
Due to the human trash that owned him, he can be wary of people when first meeting them and thus proper introductions are of the upmost importance! Potential homes with experience of dogs poorly socialized as puppies will have preference.
He is a snuggly, affectionate boy and would be great with kids over 8 years old. He loves dogs of any size! He is not cat or small animal friendly and needs a home that understands that. Simba is incredibly obedient and has all his basic obedience cues down - he is also crate and house trained. He has excellent recall!
As a result of backyard breeding, Simba does not have perfect hips or knees. Pet insurance will be a must as he ages to prevent costly vet visits. Currently he is no pain and has no physical limitations!
He needs a home with a fenced in yard and dog savvy owners who can properly manage his interactions with people. He should not be loose in the house to greet strangers coming in and out as he needs structured greetings. He is not a dangerous boy at all, but is not a dog that can be taken out in the public such as restaurant patios or downtown in the city. He is muzzle trained for any necessary public outings and has made exemplary progress in his year of healing with us.
Simba is a sweet cuddle-bug of a dog for a household that understands his background and can manage his social interactions.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
