Description:
This gorgeous, sweet boy is Oakley! He is the perfect beginner shepherd he is dog friendly, loves people and is basically a huge baby. His perfect home would have a fenced yard, lots of opportunities for walks and hikes and a comfy couch to sleep on at the end of the day.

Oakley is super dog friendly, he is very gentle with other dogs. We introduced him to male, female, big and small dogs and he did great! He can be playful but is also happy to co-exist. He would do well in a home with another dog but doesnt need one. Watch him interact with other dogs: https://youtu.be/OdNWSle-upc

Oakley is an easy shepherd in that he is not super hyper or excitable. He is very good at keeping all of his paws on the floor. He has not shown any anxiety during his time with us. He does pull on leash and gets distracted easily, but that can be trained. He seems to be food motivated!

He is a little social butterfly and will walk up to anyone and everyone to say hello. He would like all of the pets and attention!
Oakley came from a small animal control office outside of Houston. We have him in boarding while he waits for his forever home, which means he may need some extra time getting used to a home environment. We think he is worth it!

Oakley is currently being fostered in Houston, TX and will be available to travel to the PNW on 9/10.

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
