The 6 Celestial puppies 5 males and 1 female were born on 11/28/21. Their mom Shelby GSD/Mal mix gave birth to them over night at a distant shelter so we had to rush to rescue Shelby and her pups the next day. 1/6/22 Update: The puppies are all doing well playful love food and growing. Shelby enjoys spending time away from them and ignores them. She checks on them but wont nurse them anymore. They are weaned and eating. The puppies do play with the foster homes 3 small dogs with Shelby around and she doesnt mind. Puppies are 6 weeks old on 1/9/22 and need to start their early puppy socialization. We are awaiting updated photos of each puppy. Puppies will be available for adoption when they are 8 weeks old and after their vet care. 1/16/22 Update: Puppies are in 2nd foster home now for socialization and training. More info. and photo to come. They are expected to grow to a size similar to their mother Shelby. Pups are very playful. They will need experienced home with back yard exercise for long walks/hikes and will grow to 70 lbs plus. Mom hikes 4 miles daily with moderate energy. Social to all. 2/6/22: Since his vet care for treatment of round worms and coccidia the last 24 hours he has completely changed and is now a much more active puppy then at prior foster home. He was sweet and cuddly when he first got here but is now more of a typical GSD puppy - ankle biting pulling on pant legs running and ju/11mping on my 9 month old aussie puppy (in a playful way). He needs Puppy Socials training and will be a moderate active adult. When first arriving Percy was cuddly and sweet. 2/11/22: Now that he feels better he is confident out-going and can be vocal when excited to play. Will need experienced home and exercise. He is also very trainable and has great food drive. He has been playing with my 9 month old and the neighbors 4 year old lab. He has been confident when meeting new dogs and people. Loves going out to all the socials and started Nose Work dog fun sport. Has learned MANY commands from foster home... very treat motivated. :-) Perseus is smart. 7/17/22: Percy was playing with a neighbors large lab and seemed like he injured his elbow. He went to SAGE and Tama Vet for exam and x-rays. Turns out he has Pano (Panosteitis) which is common for growing GSD and it goes away as they grow. Treated with pain meds relaxing at home and now fine. 8/2/22: Percy remains an outgoing and confident dog. He has very high food drive and is just as happy to work (he has had introductions to both Barn Hunt and Nose Work) as he is to play. He continues safe socialization with crowds children and dogs. Percy has enjoyed listening to DJs/live music at events as well as sitting quietly under the table while the humans drink coffee or have lunch at restaurants with outdoor patios. Percy is excellent in his crate and knows the following commands with age appropriate distractions while in public: Percy Come Sit Down Shake Touch. He knows the following commands at home or with minor distractions: Load-up (get in the crate) Right turn Left turn Inside Outside Sit-pretty. He is working on: Roll-over. Overall Percy is a charming dog with a solid temperament. Percys digestive issues have calmed down and he can now tolerate small amounts of treats along with his kibble. He is also sleeping through the night and his daytime capacity to hold it has increased. Now that he is no longer having frequent bouts of diarrhea he is growing like a weed and is quite the handsome gentleman. He enjoys sleeping on the bed or in his crate playing with toys/other dogs walks where he can be social and just enjoying life. Percy is also prone to eating (not chewing eating) inappropriate objects (rocks sticks dirt toys etc.) and needs supervision. He saw a cat on a walk and tried to chase it when it ran. 9/5/22 Perseus (Percy) is now in his new great foster home with another GSD and WFH guardians. Doing great.
