Description:
Gander is a sweet 12 month old Shepherd mix that came to us after he (and several of his housemates) were found dumped across Lake County. Gander was petrified at animal control, hiding in the corner.... terrified and shaking uncontrollably. Dogs like this dont do well with shelter life, so we knew we couldnt leave him behind. He was placed with one of our experienced fosters and allowed to decompress. After a few days in our care, it became apparent that Gander had probably spent the first part of his short life in a garage with very little interactions from his human family. He was scared of everything and everyone and only found comfort around other dogs.

While in foster, Gander has been learning how to be a dog. He is learning what its like to live in a home where he is safe and loved. This smart boy is now housebroken, knows all of his basic commands, and is rocking his leash skills! He is still a little shy when he meets new people, so an experienced and confident handler is what Gander will need to blossom. He loves his pre-teen and teenage human siblings and follows them around endlessly. And his two furry housemates are teaching him confidence.

Life can still be a little overwhelming for Gander, so a structured and calm home where he can develop at his own pace would be ideal. Although still shy around new people, Gander shines like a new penny when he sees other dogs so another furry housemate that can continue to show him the ropes would be best. As long as they dont mind his rough and tumble play style - he is still a young pup after all!
