Description:
Loki is a handsome Great Dane Mix male that is approximately 2.5 years old, fully vetted and weighs 70.5 lbs. Meeting Loki youd never know that hes been given a not so great start in this world. Hes loving, goofy, smart, and loves a solid cuddle - completely house trained, knows commands, great recall, and is great around kids. So how did such an amazing dog end up needing a furever home ??? His previous owner was a drug addict, so he didnt have the stability nor a consistent human in his life to give him the security and love that all dogs need and crave. With shelters and rescues working overtime and at full capacity, Loki in a way was lost in the "system" for the last 4 months - stuck between leaving the only home hes known to being bounced around from one boarding facility to the next, stressed to the max, just waiting for someone to come for him. On 8 Aug 2010, a shelter volunteer saw a post that Loki needed medical attention, so she went to pick this sweet boy up. Upon picking him up, she knew he couldnt go back to boarding and so she grabbed his stuff and here we are! We now have a fresh start for Loki and Critter Cavalry Rescue and his foster mom are working hand in hand to find his best furever home. He was frail when we picked him up. His condition was sad and it is fast turning around. Despite all the past neglect from so many humans, Loki still loves people and daily shows how amazing resilient he truly is. Loki is currently working on gaining back important pounds/weight that he lost. We are rebuilding the trust that he can be loved. Most importantly he is learning that he is safe. Whats the ideal home for Loki - A single dog home that allows him some R&R and time to regain his true self and doggie ways. He is great with other dogs, but living in the conditions he has been in took a toll on his tolerance of any misbehaving dogs in his face. For sure he doesnt do well with cats at all. Despite not having the perfect life, he truly is the perfect dog, waiting for his perfect family.
