PLEASE DO NOT APPLY OR ASK ABOUT THIS DOG UNLESS YOU HAVE READ HIS BIO AND UNDERSTAND HIS SPECIAL NEEDS.

This is the condition he was diagnosed with.

Whiskers was completely lame to begin with, but with months of careful rehabilitation, he has regained full use of his legs, though as the video shows, he has a wobbly little walk! He also cannot completely control when he has a bowel movement, so there are occasional accidents. He is able to urinate on his own, but sometimes he will urinate submissively when scared or startled. We keep a belly band on him when he is in the house.

But if you are up for a project with a dog who will reward you with trust and devotion, please get in touch.

Whiskers, who was born between 2017 and 2018, will need a dog experienced home and he needs other dogs, as he is one of those dogs whose real happiness and comfort level is around his own kind. If you are able to let a dog be who he is, and are looking for a companion for other dogs, he is a terrific companion.

He will need easy access to a backyard. He cannot live in an apartment. He will learn how to enjoy humans, but will never be a cuddle bug, and initially, this 20 pound dog will need you to be extremely patient. He is gentle and has never shown any tendency to nip, even when afraid.

He came from a backyard in Richmond along with 7 others in his pack and he was incredibly happy in his life, as were all of them. When the owner could not take them to a new home, the dogs were left behind.

This is a sweet, gentle little dog and if you have the experience and willingness to work with shy dogs, and have a friendly or multiple friendly dogs, this little dude will brighten up as soon as he sees them!

We will not adopt him out as a solo dog.

FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
