***ADOPTION PENDING*** MEET MORSEL….an 8 lb, 3 yr old, black/white Terrier Maltese?? who is definitely a character. He came to us from the East Valley Shelter with a ruptured Achilles tendon, which had been surgically repaired by a Good Samaritan! Of course, he was in pain, and not too happy, but what we learned pretty soon after pulling him out of the shelter is that he is also deaf! Likely congenital. That may be one of the reasons why it is so difficult taking pictures of him, but we did our best! Also, having a black face doesn’t help! Despite his maladies, Morsel is a lovable, funny dog who gives kisses and makes you laugh. He loves sitting next to you and will encourage you with his head to pet him and/or give him belly rubs! Now that he is healing, he loves to go for walks, even prances, and demands, with a couple of barks, for you get the leash out faster! He gets uber excited when that leash comes out!! His foster has been working on his potty training (because his former parents didn’t) — and wile we don’t guarantee anything, he now goes to the door, or comes over and taps his foster on the arm “let’s go out! He is good on a walk but he does NOT like bicycles, skateboards or scooters. He is very protective of himself and can be a bit growly at times, which is why we don’t recommend children in his new home. But another dog his size would be fantastic. He LOVES toys and is very animated….he has a very funny “wail” that he does with glee when he’s happy about something! One thing to note…Morsel is one of those dogs who gets really excited and “submissively drips” when he is greeting new people in his home! Ignoring him at that time will help!! Like we said, a character with a few idiosyncrasies! Since he just started walking again, we are still working on reading his personality. We can tell you he is cuddly and loving once he feels secure. He is a compact package who could go with you everywhere! We will update as we go along. We are accepting applications now. Morsel won’t be a dog for everyone…but for the right person, he will be perfect!
