Hey everyone! I’m Herbie, aka the Love Bug. Im about three years old and 30 pounds. I was hoping you might click on my profile when you saw my huge smile! Every inch of my being is about living life to the max! Sometimes I start off a little shy, but once I know you are friendly (especially if you have good treats!), I love to do my happy wiggle dance when I see you, and even when I sit for a treat sometimes my front paws just can’t sit still. I love going for adventures, outings and meeting new dogs. I really love wrestling with the big dogs! Foster dad says I am also a very good walking and running buddy. I stay on the trails very well, and with the slip-lead harness I don’t pull or drag. Im only about 35 pounds! Sometimes I get excited if I see another critter in the distance, but I really just want to play chase or meet them. I out-run most of the big dogs at my foster home, and right now I can do about a mile straight before its time to go cool down! Most people think I’m still a puppy, but I’m full grown at 3 years old! I do very well in my crate, especially with a good chew like a Benebone to keep me occupied. I am learning what the command “Crate” means and I haven’t fought or tried to play keep-away when it’s time to go in it. I also do well with a blanket in my crate to snuggle in when it’s time to snooze. I even do well with cats! One of the things foster dad has noticed is that I REALLY don’t like being crowded in on, even if everyone is nice. It scares me and makes me feel confined, and I can be reactive to tell everyone to back off. The other thing that has made me very nervous and protective in public is if a person walks up on me and my human too fast or suddenly. I think that they might hurt us, and I will tell them I don’t like it with my big-dog voice! I’m definitely the kind of pup that needs people to approach slow and let me please sniff their hand! As I don’t speak human, I need my person to be able to watch for these situations and help me by asking and teaching people the best way to approach! These things go for people and visitors in my home, too. If you can be understanding of what I need and patient with helping me feel safe, I will pay you back with all the love and affection I can muster! Are you ready for my pint-sized bundle of excitement and happiness to come into your life? Set up a time with the ODHS folks and come out and meet me! See you soon! What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance.
