Say hello to Kale, #MASA15916! This 8-1/2-year-old boy came to MAS on August 15 after roaming the 38127 area. This staff & volunteer favorite ventured out for a foster field trip last weekend, and this is what his chaperone said about their day together: "Kale is incredibly calm and sweet. Initially, it took some time to get him in the car. So, we walked him around the parking lot for a while to put him at ease. Finally, one of the staff members picked Kale up and placed him in the car. Once there, he was very calm, curious, and loved looking out the window! He also followed directions and stayed in the back seat when we told him to. We took him to Burt Ferguson Park and had no trouble getting him out of the car. He has a lot of energy, walks well on a leash, and didnt bark the whole time we had him. Kale did very well around our teenage daughter. There were few people at the park. Kale was curious about other dogs but never tried to run over to them and didnt bark at them. He also didnt bark at people when we passed them, including a kid on a bike. When it was time to leave the park, we had no trouble getting Kale back inside the car. After that, we ended up bringing Kale to our house. He was still incredibly calm but alert and curious. He didnt seem afraid at all. We gave him a treat and water before returning him to the shelter. We would be happy to spend time with Kale on another field trip, but we hope that Kale finds a forever home with a very lucky family soon!" Kale was a Volunteer Favorite in August! They noted that he might have a few years on him, but hes the main character. Kale ensured everyone knew butt scratches are the most critical need of any shelter dog! If youre interested in 46 lb. Kale, email mas@memphistn.gov or meet him at the shelter anytime during our daily visiting hours of 12-4 pm.
