You know a dog is a one of a kind when they get a surname! Lou may be named for the NBA star or maybe because all true gentlemen have classy last names! Lou is a 1 plus year old Lab mix fellow with about 50 pounds on him. His guardian sadly could no longer care for him. Lou is a unique dog to SFAS. One, he is a whip-smart guy who can probably do basic math and read a book. No joke, he is clever-paw on command, nice leash manners and a sitting world champ. Two, Lou is a black dog which means we have to try harder to tell folks about him. Black dogs and cats are sometimes overlooked at shelters, which is just about the craziest thing ever! Lou is super tuned into people-so pretty much anything you ask of him he will do! He loves to jump from his bed frame to his bench/perch when he sees staff coming towards him. He is absolutely THAT excited to have a chat! And yes, our staff and volunteers tend to talk to him. He seems to have all the answers behind his mocha eyes! Three, are you a first time dog owner? If so, let professor Lou show you the ropes. He is such a sweet and smart fellow, a newbie dog owner would be great with this guy. This is not always the case with young dogs! Fun Fact about Lou-he wears a harness (as that is how he learned to walk on leash) and he can pretty much dress himself! When you get his harness out, he kind of slips into it like it is his little suit coat! Bonus fun fact about Lou-he has an adorable bobbed tail! As anyone who has had their coffee table cleared by a long and powerful tail, there is something to be said for a no nonsense bob! Lou Williams adoption fee is $130. He is neutered, microchipped, and has age appropriate vaccinations. A licensing fee may apply. If you have any dogs at home, we encourage you to bring them down for a meet and greet!
