Name:Bennington Nickname:Benny. Ben. Breed: Mixed Breed Age: ~6 years Current Weight: ~55 lbs. History: Bennington was initially adopted as a puppy and, unfortunately, he and his (dog) sister have gotten into multiple fights in the home and are no longer compatible. Key Descriptors: Loyal. Energetic. Smart. Very intelligent. Persistent. Protective. Loving. Playful. Energy level: Higher. Currently, he religiously does two longer walks a day. He’ll also run with you if that’s your thing. If you try to take a day off, you’ll hear from the manager and hell cause some mischief. Snuggliness: It’s situational. He’s happy to be off on his own, but does enjoy a good snuggle sesh on the couch or in bed. What he loves: Shredding anything made of cardboard (boxes, toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls). Stuffed toys. When his humans pretend to chase him. Burying bones – when the yard is unavailable, blankets do just fine. Chasing squirrels. Car rides. Peanut butter. Coconut oil, cheese, and meat mixed into his food – not on top. Mixed in. The devil is in the details. What we love: Hes incredibly sensitive and intuitive (for instance, he knows when his person is sad and is quick to comfort). He gives amazing hugs. How he sits on top of his crate on a dog bed to keep neighborhood watch. When he gets off the bed in the morning it’s feet first and then he slowly drags his back legs until he’s four on the floor. Stranger Danger Level: Moderate. He’s wary of new people, but can warm up quickly if given a minute and not rushed. High value treats usually speed this process up. You’ll also definitely know when someone walks by or approaches the house. Important to know: He’s allergic to bees. We know this because he likes to eat them. Fooled ya: He lets you think he hates baths by shaking and hiding, but once he’s in there, there’s no denying he loves tub time! What he knows: Sit. Lay Down. Paw. Come. “Benny look”. “Get the squirrels”. “Benny get in the house”. What he’s working on: Keeping four on the floor when saying hello. Ideal home: An active family who wants to get out, explore, and get a good sweat on. A home with a fenced in yard. He loves to sunbathe and would love his own secured spot. Dogs: Should be the only dog in the home Cats: Yep! Currently lives with cats. Kids: No thanks. They’re small, quick, and generally unpredictable. House-trained: Like a true gentleman. Crate-trained: Mmhmm. Bennington is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Hes available for adoption to residents of Connecticut and surrounding states.
