Lewis is a highly active puppy. He has a very sweet temperament, is self-assured, confident, and does not ask for permission but instead seeks forgiveness. He quickly found the dog basket filled with toys that had been put away for a break and had them strewn about the family room in the blink of an eye. We cycle the toys so there is always a sense of newness for the dogs so it’s not like there were no toys to play with. Got a couple extra dog collars tucked away within his reach? No problem. He’ll find them and remind you that they’re there by pulling them out for you. Lewis has not met a toy he doesn’t like…but…sticks…oh my…he loves sticks…LOVES STICKS!!! Sticks are his thing! He found the box of tinder wood in the garage and climbs over things to get to it. Next thing we know he’s running in the backyard with a piece of kindling. He enjoys his people and his canine siblings. He has done well with every dog in the PetsConnect program that he has encountered. He has a foster brother and a foster sister that are twice his size that help tire him out. He loves to play and likes small places. He is also a waterbug! He does well in the car and has done well on leash so far. He does not appear to be a territorial barker but does bark to alert and when he’s playing. He is crate trained and is working on his house training. He knows he has to go outside but gets distracted and doesn’t always signal soon enough. He adjusted quickly to our routine and expectation for his behavior. A fenced yard would be necessary for Lewis and a canine sibling or two would be a plus. PetsConnect is an all volunteer not for profit grass roots organization. We depend on volunteers to house and care for the animals in our program.
