Cobbler was born in the wild and had to fight his entire young life just to survive another day. It was actually fortunate for him that he sustained an injury that impaired his flying ability, which made it possible to rescue him. His alula (thumb) had to be surgically removed due to a fracture, so his first encounter with humans was not a positive one. Cobweb cannot fly fully now, so he glides gracefully instead! Though he is still wary of people during his recovery, a patient person who will give him consistent love and handling will eventually gain his trust. Former city pigeons, who are deprived of all luxuries in the wild, are particularly grateful for a comfortable home with soft beds, plenty of food, yummy treats and maybe watching cartoons once in a while. Non-releasable pigeons can become extremely tame and wonderful companions over time. The reward that comes with patiently and unconditionally loving and respecting these vulnerable beings and never giving up on them is worth all the effort! Please give Cobbler the chance to live out his natural life span of 15-20 plus years, instead of the 2 to 3 years he would have survived in the wild on average, and he says he will be as sweet as his pastry-inspired name!
