Description:
Geoff is a wonderful senior sweetheart who is easy to get along with.

Geoff is a prodigious sleeper - he probably sleeps 18 hours a day. His speeds are generally slow & stop. He likes to sleep on the couch, the recliner and on his dog bed on the floor. He does have some stiffness in his back legs so he needs a little help getting into a truck and takes a little time to crawl up onto the couch. He is not able to jump onto the bed, it appears.

Geoff loves car rides and will fall asleep rather quickly on a gentle drive.

Geoff is fully housetrained. When letting Geoff out to potty it helps to go with him as when hes left alone he doesnt always like to fully empty his bladder. When walking him, he prefers to "go on shrubs or tall grass. Walking him by such features encourages him to fully relieve himself. He also seems to want to poop in the tall grass areas when that option is available. Hell walk to the edge of the yard, step off into the woods just a few feet and poop there instead of in the yard.

Though hes housetrained, Geoff does express some urinary incontinence but its involuntary, not a behavioral/training issue, but this has been inconsistent at times. He will have occasional drips but not at other times. He does not soak his bedding material. He does not leave a puddle. Overall its minimal but having hard floors helps with the cleanup/maintenance.

Geoff does excellent on a leash. He will pull when he is introduced to a new dog, but otherwise will keep a loose leash and just a gentle tug will redirect him. A child could walk Geoff on a leash. He does excellent off a leash as well but will slowly wander. When getting out of range at perhaps 30 feet or so, he will return to you with verbal commands. Ive had him in a country setting, generally far from roads, people or other distractions.

He doesnt bark but will speak to you with the Grrrr-uuhhhh when he wants something.

Geoff had very positive reactions with office staff at my work. Ive a good sized office with the ability to close the doors. Of course when word got out that I had a dog in the office there was a steady stream of coworkers coming to check him out. He loved the attention dished out to him and was gentle with meeting everyone. It tuckered him out.

When meeting new dogs he, of course, wants to get close and sniff. My neighbors dog is a relaxed collie and after their introductory sniffs, both dogs laid down to hang around.

Hes not had any chewing issues (no shoes, furniture, etc) - he likes rawhide but does not appear to like bones. He is gentle at taking treats. He is looking for a loving home to spend the rest of his years just relaxing.
