Shadow previously lived with 2 cats and was playful with them. He was reported to be housetrained by his previous family. He would likely prefer more playful dogs to live with, but would benefit from meeting any dogs in the home to ensure a good fit with the family. He recently went on a Dog Day Out and this is what was reported back: "I had the opportunity to take Shadow for a doggy day out on Friday, it was very hot but I think he had a fun time. Shadow is a 3 year old terrier pittie mix who is looking for a forever home or a foster placement through KC Pet Project. Heres a little bit about his adventure: I could tell Shadow was ready to go when I picked him up, he knew his way out, and eagerly hopped up into my car. I have a pretty high car too and he jumped in with ease. I clipped him in and he spent the journey watching his surroundings go by outside the window. It was super hot on Friday, so we went to a shaded trail across the street from the Kauffman Gardens- it was completely empty and we had the whole place to ourselves, except for the fish and what I think is some sort of large crane variety. Shadow took some time to explore, he stared longingly off into the deep water, rolled around in the cool shaded grass, and we even trusted each other to walk across a rock bridge in the water. He enjoyed some treats with a very gentle mouth. He knows commands such as sit and down and I could tell he was a quick learner, even got him to try "paw" as well. We found a variety of places to sit down and cool off. Eventually making our way over to Theis Park which was completely empty as well. We found a nice shady tree to sit under, and he sat nicely next to me with his ball while I read a book. On the way back he again jumped beautifully into my car and settled in for the ride back. He let me give him a bath in the tub at the shelter, and now his coat is even more silky that it was before. Shadow really is the perfect gentleman, always ready to explore and go along for the ride - we bird watched the giant crane for a while and he was perfectly content with it- even with it being less than 10 feet from us at one point. Once Shadow trusts you, he makes the best buddy for relaxing adventures. Hed love a home as peaceful as he is. If you have dogs in the home, hed love to meet them to make sure theyll be best friends." Shadow is currently in a foster home.
